PCAA Monthly Meeting
Emergency Management Room, Pierce County Courthouse
November 17, 2008
Meeting called to order by President Eric Markwardt at 7pm.
The minutes from the October meeting were presented and reviewed. Motion by Dave Swenson, second by Larry Johnson to accept minutes as is. Motion carried.
Copies of the Treasurer's Report were provided by Tony Brantner and discussed by Eric Markwardt. For the month of October income was $2967.25 from dues, and the meat raffle, silent auction, and door prize raffle at the Family Fun Day. Expenses were $1861.09 for postage, check blanks, web site hosting, printing, meat raffle, signs, and other miscellaneous items. Motion by Terri Klawiter, second by Darren Place to accept treasurer's report. Motion carried.
An election was held to fill the vacant Secretary position. Terri Klawiter nominated Heather Markwardt and Dave Swenson seconded. No other nominations were received. Heather Markwardt was elected by a unanimous voice vote.
∑ Discussion of ATV Routes and trails was led by Darren Place. Work is being done to try to connect 750th St to Bendillyís Bar and 560th Ave to the Steel Horse Bar. One of the current sticking points is how to compensate landowners for crops that canít be planted if an ATV trail easement is given. Darren Place will check with WATVA to see what options might be available. River Falls Township tabled until the Spring of 2009 a request by the PCAA to open 720th St to ATV travel from Beldenville to the Martell township line.
∑ Dave Swenson reported that a majority of the thank yous have been sent out do the businesses and individuals who donated items for the Family Fun Day. The remainder will be completed ASAP.
∑ A brief discussion was held about the upcoming ATV Safety class. The PCAA needs to ensure that any liquor at the Legion club is locked up. Eric Markwardt and Clark Goodwin will fax fliers on the training class to area schools and possible put an advertisement in the Pierce County Herald.
∑ Larry Johnson recapped the first Pierce County fall club ride held in early November. Attendance was sparse but the riders that did show had a good time.
∑ The monthly meat raffle that was planned for the Big Horn Bar will not be happening since the snowmobile club has decided they want to run it again. Terri Klawiter and Scott Jones will be looking for an alternate location for a regular meat raffle. A one-time meat raffle will be held in East Ellsworth on December 6th.
∑ A winter club ride has been planned for Saturday, January 3rd in Clark County.
∑ A newsletter will sent out in December. Articles for the newsletter are due to Eric Markwardt by December 5th.
∑ Membership renewals for 2009 will be sent out with the December issue of the club newsletter.
∑ A bridge is probably needed on the section of ATV trail going into Spring Valley where it crosses a water run. Larry Johnson will check with Ruth Esanbock to see if the Spring Valley chapter is pursuing getting a bridge.
∑ Members of the St. Croix Trail Riders are discussing a possible ride in South Dakota in June, 2009.
A motion to adjourn was made by Dave Swenson at 8:21pm. Seconded by Terri Klawiter. Meeting adjourned.
